Do you remember the times when employment opportunities co-existed with unemployed professionals and there was still a wide chasm between the two? If you’re in the music industry, you are probably still living in those times.
This is, unfortunately, a harsh reality for most people involved in the music scene, and not just for artists. For example, great bands require efficient technicians; event companies need writers; recording labels need PR executives; clubs need managers… and the list goes on. On the flip side, countless individuals working in fields as varied as accounts, education, and the law would love to get involved professionally with the music industry – but wouldn’t know where to begin.
Fortunately for us all, a groundbreaking new website may be the savior we’ve been looking for. “LiiLT.com” is a free international membership site that combines a job and college-course search engine with a full social media platform, creating an incredibly useful and comprehensive resource for anyone seeking a career in electronic music.
An exposure to opportunities is a necessary catalyst for the development of any skill. Founded in and operating out of Dublin, LiiLT aims to connect this talent with venues and institutions across the world. Users can post or apply for jobs and courses, easily peruse existing international directories, and network with other professionals – all for free. Paid services are also offered though a ‘professional’ membership level and premium positions in the listings pages, but all of the site’s core functions are available to all members.
Although the website is dedicated to the global electronic music industry, its use is not limited to musicians. The site has partnered with Vh1 Supersonic, Beatport, Pointblank, SAE, Ministry of Sound and many more institutions across the world, with job postings ranging from educators, editorial interns, data analysts and video editors to club managers, promoters and infrastructure engineers.
LiiLT recently partnered with I Love Music Academy as their exclusive education affiliate in India, which will be greatly beneficial for our students. Tapping into the Indian electronic music network at a grassroots level, all current students at I Love Music Academy will get pro accounts with LiiLT with immediate access to the local and international music community. Alumni can also benefit by availing of a pro account at a 50% discount.
Nakul Vagale, Founder and Director of I Love Music Academy, explains, “The electronic music industry in India is not really structured. I Love Music Academy was a step forward to formalize education in this segment of the music industry. The services of LiiLT will help this sector by bringing in some business structure as well.”
Arjun Vagale, internationally acclaimed DJ/Producer and Director at I Love Music Academy, agrees: “LiiLT is a great step to link different streams of the music industry to one another. We are excited to be a part of this and will support the drive to push LiiLT forward.”
Jaideep Singh, Senior Vice President at LIVE Viacom18, says, “Our partnership with LiiLT enables us to provide an impetus to young music talent and provide them with the ideal opportunity to build their capabilities and charter their musical journey. LiiLT has the potential to fuel the growth of the electronic music industry by getting the right talent to the right places.”
Although it’s still in the beta phase, LiiLT.com has already provided a common network for jobs and educational opportunities across the creative and business aspects of the electronic music industry.
